And Now in the Center Ring….

Dec. 17: We will be presenting parts of The Long Road to Paris in Bluffton, South Carolina on Jan. 19 at the Performing Arts Center.

Since it is “performing arts”, we have decided to present part of chapter 1 as a skit. Ed will play Ed Talbot and I will be Dr. Parker. (OK, it was my idea, but I’ve convinced Ed to go along with it.) Now all I need is a lab coat and stethoscope to wear around my neck. After all, anyone knows all doctors portrayed in ads on TV wear stethoscope to hold their egos in place and not to be mistaken as a nurse.

We will also be able to use powerpoint at this event and can connect our real world rally with the fictional one. After all, some of our characters and most of the place are real and based on our experiences so why not flaunt it? Here for example is Frans Schuursma, (with Charlie who should be Charlee since he is a she) who is pouring wine for Ed and me. You don’t meet him until late in the book. He really is a real Dutch artist and lives on his boat on the Seine.  Like in the novel, his car was pushed into the Seine under mysterious circumstances. Honest, this really did happen.

Now does anyone have a lab coat and stethoscope I can borrow when I become Dr. Parker?

P.S. We’ve just found out Newt Gingrich will preceed us. Good or bad…Vote here. Howle or Gingrich?

About ejhowle23

Authors and adventurers, participated in the World Race 2011, an automobile rally from New York to Paris, crossing three continents and 14,000 land miles. Following much the same route as the setting for our debut novel, The Long Road to Paris. This blog describes our own adventures and challenges. And now you can follow our Bahamas sailing adventure that provides the setting for our second novel, Night Watch. Our rally, the African Safari Challenge, crossed five countries in South Africa in May 2014 and in 2015 we participated in the second Trans-American rally this time from Nova Scotia to San Francisco. Spring of 2016 we travelled 28 days around Australia with friends from previous rallies and in the fall participated in our most exhausting rally through Argentina, Chili and Peru- the Rally of the Incas. We were awarded the Against All Odds award. We're still not sure if this was for us or our car. Stewball never broke down and we hardly did. We will soon take on Iceland as a self-drive tour and in the fall of 2017 we will participate in the Odyssey Italia and then back to Africa for a do-over (almost) of the Africa Safari Challenge.

    Jan and Ed,

I’m sure Tim Conway has some you might borrow!

Meanwhile, I am sure the Howles will show that other person up. Take your pick. Before or after, you’ll come out way ahead!

    Have fun!
